The Winter Nail Shades.

There is just something so therapeutic about slicking on a fresh coat of nail polish to make your nails look beautiful. When it comes to nail shades, no matter what time of the year it is, I have always been drawn to the typically 'winter' shades. I'm all about those dark, cool tones, berry hues and the occasional festive glitters. Baring that in mind, here are a few of the winter nail shades that are getting me through this festive season.

As a brand that I have always had nothing but good experiences with, it is certainly no coincidence that all of my picks just happen to be from Essie. Essie offer such a wide array of beautiful shades, particularly at this time of the year, and I'm always confident in knowing that I can get a good 4-5 days wear out of their shades without any significant chipping.

Without a doubt, my all-time favourite nail shade to wear is Essie's Chincilly. It is one that I find myself repurchasing time and time again, and when I find myself in doubt, it will always be my default shade. It's a gorgeous granite gray shade, and it's one that goes with absolutely everything. It is effortlessly chic and always looks so neat on the nails.

Go With The Flowy is something a little bit out of my comfort zone, as I typically like to stick with darker tones - nonetheless, I was very pleasantly surprised by this cloudlike dove gray shade. Although a little harder to apply due to the grittiness of the fine silver glitter, it is a beautiful shade regardless. The shimmer in this shade isn't immediately noticeable, but I find that when it catches the light it gives a subtle sparkle and adds a gorgeous depth to this neutral shade.

Truth be told, it wouldn't be the festive season without a go-to, party ready red nail polish and Essie are on to a serious winner with Thigh High. It makes for the perfect Christmas shade, with a subtle hint of sexiness. Opaque in just two coats, it's a faultless choice and will beautifully complement an array of outfits. Additionally, if you feel like going all out in your festive spirit, you could leave one or two nails blank and coat them with Getting Groovy - without a doubt, the perfect shimmering gold.

What are a few of your favourite winter nails shades?
